1-31-11 - Today's Mani

Another new mani for a rainy day

Nubar - Indigo Illusion - This is a green/purple duochrome. Goes on great, very smooth. Unfortunately my camera doesn't do justice to the duo effect. But it looks great in real life. Another reason I love Nubar so much.

1-30-11 - Today's Mani

So continuing with trying use all of the polishes I haven't used yet, today we have

Orly - Matte Vinyl. This is a black matte. This is an okay polish, coverage wasn't great, I used two coats but probably should have used three.

I added some Revlon nail stickers I bought years ago but never used.

1-29-11 - Today's Mani

So for today's mani we:

Essie - Going Incognito - This is a really pretty forest green. It goes on nicely and is good to go in 2 coats. For this mani I've alternated Matte About You and Seche Top Coats.

1-25-11 - Today's Mani

So I guess its pretty obvious that I really like buying nail polish :) Well when I was doing my swatching, I realized that I have a lot of polishes I haven't used yet, so my goal is to use them before I start going back to old favorites, so I'll probably be changing manis more frequently than usual, so without further ado, today's mani is

China Glaze - Awaken - This is a gun metalish silver shimmer which is really pretty. It goes on nicely but is a little bit on the thin side.

OPI - Black Shatter - Like a new toy, I'll probably be playing with this one quite often. The other day someone asked me what I thought of Black Shatter compared to the Mia Secret crackle polish. I have to say I like them both, and they are pretty equal in my opinion.

Topped everything off with Out the Door top coat.

1-24-2011 - New Mani

So I went ahead and did a new mani already.

OPI - Have You Seen My Limo - This is an older color. Its dark amethyst with multi color micro glitter. I wasn't sure about this color at first but with 3 coats its looks really good. Its more purple than my camera shows.

1-23-11 - Black Shatter

I finally got my hands on a couple bottles of Black Shatter this morning.

I did a heavy application because I like a lot of black with a little bit of color peeking out. I used it over OPI, Ink Suede. While I really like the look, it doesn't seem to work well with Suede polishes, which probably isn't surprising given the nature of the Suede polishes, but after just a short time, most of the color just disappeared. So I think sticking with regular polishes is probably best when using the Shatter.

1-22-11 - Today's Mani

So while I was going through my polishes today, I realized that I have a lot that I haven't used yet, some of which I've had for a long time, so I'm going to start working on using them

OPI - Ogre the Top Blue - The is a bright neonish blue from the Shrek collection. It went on great, two coats and its good to go.

China Glaze - Fairy Dust - This is a silver glitter its pretty, but very much the same as the other silver glitters that I have. Of course the camera never catches the sparkliness of these polishes, this one is really pretty with a great sparkle.

1-20-11 - Today's Mani

I couldn't decide what do for a mani since I have sooo many new polishes, but I just had to go with the Nfu Oh. This is the most awesome holo I've ever used. I love this polish. In the bottle it kind of pinkish but on its totally purple and the holo effect is to die for. This might be my first Nfu Oh, but its definitely not my last.

1-20-11 - New Goodies

The postman was good to me today. I got three new polishes in the mail and I stopped off an picked one up a Penney's.

Nfu Oh - #64 - This is a pinkish/purplish holo. This is my first Nfu Oh polish and I'm very excited to try it.

OPI - Not Like the Movies - This is from the Katy Perry Collection. Its a green/purple duo chrome, I have a couple of other similar colors but I thought I'd give this a try. I actually stopped by Penney's hoping to get Black Shatter but they had all of the colors except that one. So I'll get it this weekend at Ulta.

OPI - Take the Stage. I missed getting this one when Burlesque was out and had to get it off Ebay its a rust colored shimmer.

OPI - Have You Seen My Limo - this is an older color I just got off Ebay - Its from the 2007 Holiday in Hollywood Collection. Its an amethyst shimmer with multi micro glitter.

So with these four new ones that brings me to a total of 287 polishes.

1-15-11 - New Goody

I was at Ulta today and came across a brand I'm not familiar with (Barielle), they say its is Big 3 free so I thought I'd try one out, and it turned out to be on sale so that was really cool.

Barielle - Jess' Champagne Toast - This is a lavender shimmer with pink and blue micro glitter. Its actually lighter than my camera shows. I'm liking my current mani so it will probably be a few days before I try this one out, besides all of the other new colors I need to try out :)

1-15-11 - Today's Mani

Out of the new haul, I went with the Smokin' Hot first, with Northern Lights top coat.

This is a muted purple that goes on very smoothly, great in two coats, I love the color, its different than the other purples I have.

1-14-11 - Today's Haul

I picked up a few things while I was out and about today. I went by Ulta, and they told me they would have the OPI Katy Perry Collection out on Jan. 23rd for those who are waiting for the collection. I think I got a nice mix of colors this time.

Essie - Going Incognito - This is a tealish green polish that looks very interesting

Essie - Smokin' Hot - This is a muted purple I can't wait to try

Essie - Merino Cool - This is a muted kind of mauve color, hard to describe but I love it.

OPI - Ogre The Top Blue - A neon blue. This one finally finishes off the Shrek Collection for me. Took me long enough :)

China Glaze - I don't know what's gotten into me with all of these reds I've been getting lately, but this is a dark red with silver micro glitter. From the Vintage Vixen Collection.

1-12-11 - Today's Mani

So I wasn't actually planning to do a new mani today, but somehow I got my finger caught in the two-hole punch at work and took a gouge out of polish. I know I could have just re-done that nail, but I'm an all or nothing girl, I can't polish just one nail :), so I tried another of my Zoya's.

Valerie - This is a really neato purple micro glitter in a black base, I it would have been good to go in one coat but I did two just cuz. I topped it with Seche. I've decided to give it another try. Of course my purple hating camera doesn't really show the real color very well.

1-11-11 - Today's Mani

The first of my free Zoya polishes I tried out is Isla. I'm not a huge red fan (I'm still trying to figure out why I chose two reds), but I love this polish, its a beautiful dark red shimmer, which reminds me of Nubar Torrid Red (my absolute favorite red polish). It goes on smoothly and is rockin' in two coats. This is an awesome polish.

1-11-11 - New Zoya Goodies

My three free Zoya polishes arrived today. They also sent swatches of the spring collection and from the Wicked & Wonderful collecton.

China Glaze - Atlantis - this is my first time using this one. I love the sparkle in this glitter, and it went on really really nicely.

1-3-11 - New Goodies

So I was out running around today, and I have these swatch wheels at Sally's. I've been looking for some for awhile now and am so happy I have finally found them. Now I can swatch all of my polishes. Also found these funny little stickers that cover the entire nail, it will be fun trying them.

And six new polishes which now brings me to a total of 275 polishes.

1-2-2011 - First Mani of the Year

For my first mani of the year, I thought I'd go with a funky little reverse french.

Orly - Rage - This is a champagne colored shimmer metallic. Nice application, it did well with 2 coats.

1-2-11 - First Haul of the Year

So today we have the first haul of the year and a bit of rant.

First, the rant - What is up with polish companies announcing the release of new collections and the stores not getting them in stock for 2-3 weeks or more. Example, for months OPI has been talking about the Katy Perry & Serena Williams collections coming out 1-1-11. No stores have either collection and Ulta is saying they most likely won't have them until the end of the month. Why is it so hard to get the collections to the stores for the release date? I hope this doesn't happen with the upcoming China Glaze Crackle Collection and Tronica Collection.
